Pantanal Escapes

This YouTube clip is a local news segment (in Portuguese) showing an expedition in Mato Grosso do Sul, traveling along rivers to recreate exploits of early Portuguese settlers traveling to the goldfields of Cuiabá. Along the way, they show residents of a small settlement panning for gold and diamonds in the river.

Even if you don't understand what's being said - these videos show the rivers and scenery, and give some idea of what the journey was like. It also gives some insight to rural life in the modern-day Pantanal.
